Cancellation Policy

You must give Your Instructor at least 48 hours notice (the Minimum Notice) if You wish to cancel or rearrange a driving lesson, otherwise You will be liable to pay for 100% of the lesson fee.

Where You have pre-paid for any lesson but fail to attend or provide the Minimum Notice to cancel or rearrange the lesson, it will be counted as a lesson taken for the purposes of the lesson cancellation policy and You will be liable for the lesson fee.

It is your responsibility to check times and dates of sessions.

Should it become necessary for Your Instructor to cancel your lesson, we will endeavour to provide you with as much notice as possible. We will also make every effort to reschedule your lesson to an alternative time and/or date that is suitable for you. Should this not be possible, then upon your request, the lesson fee (if prepaid) will be refunded to you in full.

Your Instructor reserves the right to cancel a lesson or finish a lesson early on grounds of road safety.

Drving Licence

The student must hold a current, valid, category B Irish driving licence (full or learner permit) which must be produced before their first lesson.

Penalty Points

Penalty points incurred by customers during lessons will be the full responsibility of the customer

Payment

In order to secure the lesson a full payment must be made at the time of booking and no later than 5 days before the agreed lesson. Please note that payments are non-refundable.

Customer Vehicles

Certain trainings might be delivered in the customer’s vehicle. Customer’s vehicle must satisfy all legal requirements. It must be roadworthy, taxed and insured as appropriate with valid discs displayed. A valid NCT disc (if applicable) must also be displayed. L Plates/N Plates must be displayed as appropriate. Customer must be insured to drive the vehicle used for their lessons.

Your instructor will carry out vehicle checks prior to commencement of lessons to ensure legal compliance. Lack of legal compliance will result in cancellation of the lesson with full costs applied to the customer.

Please note that the training will not go ahead if:

  • The tax, insurance or NCT discs (if required) are not displayed and valid.
  • The vehicle is not roadworthy e.g. if there any warning lights displayed (including tyre pressure warning indicators), if tyres are below minimum legal standards or any other aspect that affects roadworthiness.

Insurance

It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure that their vehicle is insured appropriately as certain trainings might be delivered in the customer’s vehicle. Any liability, claims or costs associated with incidents arising during driver training sessions, when the customer is the driver, will be the responsibility of the customer. The Instructor will have no liability in this regard.

Student unfit for the lesson

Your Instructor reserves the right to cancel a lesson should You, in Your Instructor’s opinion, be unfit to drive, be it due to suspected use of alcohol, drugs or medication impairing your driving. You will be liable to pay for 100% of the lesson fee.

Damage to the vehicle

If during a lesson or a driving test there has been damage caused to the school vehicle (e.g. wheels, tyres or else) due to careless driving then Your Instructor reserves the right to seek the appropriate fees to have damage caused by your actions repaired.

Vouchers

Gift vouchers have a 12 months expiry date, starting from the day they were purchased. All vouchers are non-refundable. Vouchers may be used for more than one transaction. Cash refunds are not permitted. Vouchers may not be redeemed for cash.

Pass It Driving Pack

Lessons are delivered in the customer’s own car. Should the school car be needed a Car Hire option needs to be selected in advance.

Blind spots  Driving Pack

This package is for drivers holding a full driving licence. Lessons are conducted in the driver’s own car. During the session drivers must obey all applicable rules (e.g. rules of the road, tolls, etc), be authorised to use the vehicle and ensure the vehicle used during the session complies with all regulations e.g. is road worthy, is insured and taxed. All discs, brake lights, indicators, tyres and general condition will be checked ahead of the lesson.

Car Hire

Car hire is subject to driving standard assessment prior to the exam date/car hire. The instructor reserves the right to refuse the car hire, should the applicant’s driving skills be of low, unsafe or dangerous standards. 

Our Company

The Drive Ability driving school is a 100% Irish owned company registered in Ireland under CRO number 737966 – Driveability IE. This website and its content, social media accounts, logo, reviews and pictures and or videos are the company’s property and can’t be copied, published, used partially or in full without prior consent of the Company.
